Pre-purchase
surveys
Don’t overpay a “perfect boat” price for possible hidden defects.
Before you commit, get an independent assessment of your next boat—and the evidence to buy at the asking price, negotiate a reduced price, budget for repairs or decide to walk away.
-
Visual inspection of accessible areas
A visual inspection of areas that can be safely accessed at the time of survey, recording visible condition and any access limitations. The scope reflects your vessel’s construction, condition and available access; destructive testing is outside the standard survey.
-
Hull and structural condition assessment
Inspection of accessible hull, deck and structural areas to identify visible damage or deterioration that could affect structural integrity and your repair budget.
-
Machinery, systems and safety review
Visual inspection of accessible machinery, onboard systems and safety equipment to help identify signs of hidden defects and maintenance needs that could affect safe operation and vessel reliability. Advanced engine diagnostics and laboratory analysis are agreed separately where required.
-
Sea or freshwater operational trial
Included in your pre-purchase survey: an operational trial at sea or on freshwater to observe propulsion, steering and onboard systems underway. This helps assess operation under load and identify concerns that may not be apparent alongside or on the hardstand, giving you greater peace of mind when deciding whether to buy.
-
Written inspection survey report
A written record of your vessel’s condition at the time of inspection, with prioritised findings and observations and inspection limitations clearly explained.
-
Recommendations and surveyor notes
Practical recommendations and surveyor notes to inform purchase price negotiations, plan your repair budget, commit to buy or decide to walk away.
-
Surveyor travel time and expenses included
Surveyor travel time and expenses are included across our service areas. Haul-out, lift, wash and yard fees are the client’s responsibility.
-
Follow-up call with your attending surveyor
Speak directly with the surveyor who attended your vessel to discuss your report, clarify the findings and recommendations, and understand the next steps for your purchase.
Know its true condition before you commit.
